Francis Graham Brown
The Rt Rev George Francis Graham Brown OBE DD〔(Honorary Graduates of Edinburgh University )〕 (known as Francis; 27 January 1891 – 23 November 1942) was an Anglican Bishop〔(National Archives )〕 in the second quarter of the twentieth century.〔(National Church Institutions Database of Manuscripts and Archives )〕
Graham Brown was educated at Monkton Combe School 〔“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 and St Catharine's College, Cambridge.
After World War I service with the King's Own Scottish Borderers〔(London Gazette )〕 and three years as a History Master at his old school he was ordained in 1922.〔Crockford's Clerical Directory1940-41 Oxford, OUP,1941〕
He was successively Chaplain, Vice-Principal then Principal of Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. In 1932 he was appointed the sixth Bishop of Jerusalem,〔(Diocesan web-site )〕 a post he held for 20 years.
